Wildlife tour

The island has a great deal living in it. Most guests never see any of it.

Saint Lucia's interior is one of the most biodiverse stretches of land in the Caribbean. Dense rainforest, volcanic landscape, and wildlife that has been here considerably longer than any hotel. The Caldwell wildlife tour is led by a guide who has been walking these trails since childhood and knows where to find what most visitors spend an entire trip missing.

Tours run in the early morning when the forest is at its most alive. The route changes depending on the season and what the guide expects to find that day. You may encounter the Saint Lucia parrot, one of the rarest birds in the world. You will almost certainly encounter things you were not expecting. That is entirely the point.

What to expect

An early morning walk through the Saint Lucian interior with a guide who knows the island's wildlife better than anyone. The trail takes you through rainforest, along ridgelines, and into parts of the island that most visitors never reach. The pace is unhurried and the guide is happy to stop for as long as something is worth looking at.

What to bring

Comfortable walking shoes, light clothing, sun protection, and a camera. Water is provided.

Guest review

Three hours in the forest with someone who knew every bird call, every plant, every trail. We came back the next day and asked to do it again.
